SIXTEEN KNOWN TO HAVE BEEN KILLED AND MANY WOUNDED.

ROCK SPRINGS, Wyoming, Sept. 4. — A glance over the battleground of Wednesday reveals the fact that many of the bullets fired at the fleeing Chinamen found their mark. S.J. Dorland of Akron, N.Y. on His Way to the California Desert.

LOS ANGELES, Cal., June 11. — S. J. Dorland of Akron, N.Y. is in Los Angeles, on his way to the desert to hunt for his brothers, Pete and Ben, who, he believes, were scalped by Indians. Dorland is undoubtedly the victim of a cruel practical joke.

Two Killed and Scalped — Volunteers from California.

SAN FRANCISCO, Dec. 26. — A dispatch from Yreka to-night, says that last Saturday a party of soldiers en route from Camp Bidwell to Capt. Berrands’ camp, on Lost River, were attacked by about fifty Modoc Indians. Two soldiers were killed and four wounded. Five mules were killed. The soldiers who were killed were scalped. No Indians are known to be killed. Gov. Booth will be asked to authorize the raising of 100 volunteers in this State to co-operate with the volunteers in Oregon.
