ST. LOUIS, Aug. 20. -- A dispatch from Toyaha, Texas, says: "John Morris, Sheriff of Reeves County, got on a big spree Tuesday night and used his pistol freely. An attempt was made to arrest him by Sergt. Courtright and three other State Rangers, when Morris opened fire on them, killing O.P. Nigh, and seriously wounding Sam Lane. The Sheriff was then shot three times and killed.
